TYPES
There are several types of clay pigeon shooting, on this page we shall investigate some of them.
Trap Shooting
Trap shooting involves a trap located
15 meters in front of the shooter throwing out clay targets in
various directions, heights and speeds for the shooter to hit.
One of the most common trap layouts
is down the line. This is when 5 shooting positions are set in a
row 15 meters behind a trap. The first shooter at stand one will
call for the first clay pigeon to be launched in attempt to
shoot it. Two shots are permitted to hit the clay.
Three points will be awarded for a single barrel kill, two
points for a second barrel kill and zero for a miss. The
shooter at stand two then calls for his target. This
continues down the line until all five shooters has shot at five
targets. The shooters then circulate round to the next
stand until five targets have been taken at each if the five
stands.
If a clay breaks when launched from
the trap is is considered a No-Bird.
Skeet
The skeet layout involves seven
positions set out in a semi circle. There is two traps
launching pigeons, one from a height level and one from a low,
these are launched at the same time. At stands three and
five no pair is taken. A single point is awarded for each
clay broken, each shooter can take two shots at each of the
single targets.
